The first time I tried Majordōmo was during DineLA Restaurant Week, but that was only a small taste of it so I went back again. The restaurant is a bit hidden and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There is a lot across the street for parking ($15) or you could find street parking. This area is not the safest, so if you’re going for dinner, the valet parking lot may be the better option. A reservation is highly recommended, as it can get pretty packed.

DineLA Menu
The DineLA lunch menu was $35 per person, and the entire table had to participate. It came with three courses:
- Course One
- Cucumber Salad – pineapple fish sauce vinaigrette
- Stuffed Shishito Peppers – sausage, ranch
- Course Two
- Choice of: Smoked Mushroom & Tofu Ssäm, Steak Ssäm
- Dessert
- Miso Chocolate Chip Cookie
Starting with the first course, our table of five was a bit confused when the Cucumber Salad and Stuffed Shishito Peppers were served. We thought we would each get our own course, but turns out, they put everyone’s on the same plate for your table to share. The Stuffed Shishito Peppers also came in different shapes and sizes, so…are we all fighting for the peppers? The taste, however, was so good, which made me even more disappointed we didn’t get our own first course to ourselves.

As we waited for the second course, we wondered if that would also come on a shared plate. Luckily, we each got our own. I got the Steak Ssäm. My very first thought was, wow, this piece of steak is so small. I cut a small piece and gave it a taste. It was full of flavor! Even without any sauce, this steak was delicious. I tried it with the veggies and sauce. It was so good. The steak did not last long on my plate.

The dessert came next. This also came on a shared plate. The cookie was thin and soft, with a bit of crispiness, and not too sweet. Overall, the DineLA menu was really tasty.

For my second visit, I went for dinner. The menu doesn’t have too many options, so definitely check if there’s something you want to eat there first before going.
Raw
Raw Marinated Prawns – kimchi, cucumber, pineapple – Wow. For $19, every little piece of this dish is so precious. This dish had two prawns sliced in half, four pieces total (plus the two heads). I loved the raw prawn texture, but for this price, I would prefer two pieces of uni nigiri!

Bing
Ricotta, Jam, Chili Crunch – The Bing Bread is a super light and fluffy flatbread. This had a familiar taste to it, but at the same time, it wasn’t anything I’ve had before. There is no doubt that the Bing is delicious and was definitely a highlight of the meal. To order the Bing Bread, choose your dip. We chose the ricotta, jam, and chili crunch dip. Each order of dip comes with one order of Bing Bread. If you want to order additional Bing, it’s another $6 per order! The dip was so good we ended up getting a second order of Bing to finish up the dip. The chili crunch was not very spicy at all!

Snacks
Stuffed Peppers – sack sausage, buttermilk ranch – Mmm…the stuffed peppers from DineLA were so good I knew I had to order it again. It was as good as I remembered.

Rice
Mushroom Crispy Rice – shiitake, burdock, scallion – When this dish arrived, the mushrooms were sitting on the side, on top of the crispy rice. The rice looked so beautiful. Then, the server poured broth over it and mixed it all together. It smelled so good! With the variety of mushrooms, there were a lot of different textures as part of this dish. This was a table favorite! At the bottom of the pot, the rice was still crispy. Definitely give this a try if you like mushrooms!

Large Format Dish
Bo Ssäm – pork shoulder, sesame leaf, condiments – The Bo Ssäm was the most anticipated dish of the meal. It came with a big piece of pork shoulder, veggies, and a bowl of rice! First, I tried just the pork shoulder. I made sure to roll it in some of the sauce first. It was tender and flavorful, but I do wish it was just a bit juicier. Next, I wrapped it in a piece of lettuce, added some kimchi, green onions, and pickled veggies. I liked it with the condiments! I wonder if we could have asked for more condiments. The rice was not bad. The Bo Ssäm was so much food (plus we had already eaten everything else we ordered) that we only finished half of it!

My favorite dish was definitely the Bing Bread. I’d also get the Stuffed Peppers and Steak Ssäm (from DineLA) again. The Bo Ssäm is more of a try it once dish for me. Would it be possible to make the Mushroom Crispy Rice at home? I’d give that a try and see if I succeed.
What other dishes should I get here next time?
