It’s (Not) The Weekend! Find Me In Fresno

It’s not the weekend, but I am spending two nights in Fresno. What is there to do? Well, I mostly just ate and stayed at the hotel. Here’s how I spent my time.

Sunday

3:30pm

I jumped into a Nissan Rogue to start off the adventure!

5:30pm

We stopped for dinner at Firestone Grill. I wasn’t too hungry yet, so I just got a small Tri-Tip Cobb Salad. It was so big!

7:30pm

After another few hours of music (the Disney songs were best) and listening to some animal sounds, we made it to the hotel. At check-in, the staff asked if I had a room preference and I said no, but when they handed me my room key, I realized…I do have a preference.

It was my first time having a king bed instead of two queens! The bed looked so big. I really liked how much counter space the bathroom had too.

8:30pm

We stopped by the bar. Out of everything I could have ordered, I went for the Sancha Honey Blonde Ale which took forever to pour. The staff had to bring out a whole new barrel just to get it working again.

9:00pm

Study in the hotel room. The air conditioning was working fine until, of course, when I went to bed and it just turned off in the middle of the night. It was so hot.

Monday

8:00am

Work begins in the freezing conference room. There’s also breakfast – fruits, bagels, pastries, orange juice, tea, and coffee!

11:00am

Cake before lunch? Sure! This chocolate cake was pretty sweet though.

12:00pm

It’s lunch time! There were two options – a sandwich or a wrap. I went for the sandwich. It was a bit dry even after adding in mayonnaise and mustard, but I liked the macaroni salad so much I went for another bowl!

12:30pm

Work, work, and more work.

  • Update slide formatting and numbers.
  • Time segments.
  • “I’m impressed with your answers.”
  • “Good thing we brought you.”

6:15pm

Dinner time! We went to Yosemite Ranch. It was so hard deciding what to order, but we got a lot of different appetizers to share, and I ended up getting the Santa Maria Ranch Steak with Mac & Cheese. It was delicious! My favorite appetizer was the Pistachio Crusted Calamari Steak. The House Stuffed Bread was really good too!

Appetizers

  • Blistered Shishito Peppers – sea salt citrus vinaigrette
  • Fried Calamari – house made chili crisp, fried lemon wheel, fresh citrus, sweet chili aioli
  • Pistachio Crusted Calamari Steak – citrus butter beurre blanc sauce, chives, watercress
  • House Stuffed Bread – garlic, white wine butter, parmesan cheese, parsley

Entree

  • Santa Maria Ranch Steak – 10oz steak with Mac & Cheese

Drink

  • Oaxacan Old Fashioned – tequila ocho reposado, polomo mezcal, agave, chocolate & orange bitters, orange peel

8:30pm

Get ready for the big day tomorrow.

Tuesday

7:45am

Check-out from the hotel. No breakfast today, but we all got a bottle of Fiji water. I’ve collected so many bottles of water on this trip.

9:20am

11:00am

Early lunch time! We stopped at Cosmopolitan Tavern and Italian Grill. It just opened for the day so there were a lot of seats open, but as we waited for our food to come out, the restaurant got so packed! We had french fries and onion rings for the table, and I got the New York Pastrami. It was such a big portion I was only able to eat half! I also got a compliment on the way I speak.

New York Pastrami – marble rye, 1000 island, swiss triple order pastrami, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato & dill pickles

12:45pm

A pit stop at Bravo Farms – there’s a lot of different flavored milk and animals to look at too! The peacock yelled at me.

3:30pm

We took a couple of detours and saw a nice view along the Golden State Hwy Old Road.

That’s a wrap on Fresno! It was a great car ride and eating with so many people.
