Super Peach (Century City)

After trying Majordomo, I knew I had to check out another Momofuku restaurant: Super Peach. Located inside Westfield Century City, there is a parking structure, but only the first hour is free and the restaurant does not validate. It is also pretty hard to navigate both in and out of the parking structure.

When I finally found Super Peach, I was around 30 minutes early for my reservation, but the staff was able to seat us pretty quickly. We got seated at a booth, which meant a bigger table to hold all our food! I had already looked at the menu before arriving at the restaurant, so I knew exactly what I wanted to order. Soon after we placed our order, the staff gave us complimentary chips made in house. The chips were so crispy!

Starters

Sweet Onion Dip – potato chips, chives, crispy shallots – This dip came with the same potato chips as the complimentary chips, but this dip was pretty tasty so I’m glad we ordered it! It reminded me of the Lay’s Sour Cream and Onion Chips, but even better. Next time I’d ask for an extra spoon just to spread the dip all across the potato chip.

Sweet Onion Dip $10

Wagyu Beef Kimbap crispy shallots, super sauce – The Wagyu Beef Kimbap was good, but it wasn’t a wow dish for me. I liked the filling to rice ratio, but the pickled veggies had a pretty strong taste. One order would probably be good to share with 2-3 people so you can have more pieces!

Wagyu Beef Kimbap $26

Mains

Mushroom Noodles garlic, miso, ginger, shallots – Mmm…mushroom dishes are always so tasty. The noodles had a firm texture which was a nice contrast to the soft mushrooms. The sauce was really good – just make sure your noodles grab some of the sauce before you take a bite!

Mushroom Noodles $36

Grilled Bass broccolini, ginger scallion sauce – I tried the Grilled Bass next. The flavor was a very familiar taste, similar to a steamed fish dish I used to eat with soy sauce, scallions, and ginger. Overall, I liked the texture and flavor of the bass, and the portion was not as small as I had expected. The sauce on the broccolini was delicious too!

Grilled Bass $39

Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs kbbq sauce, cole slaw – The meat was so tender and there was just the right amount of sauce (okay, maybe I could’ve used just a tiny bit more sauce).

Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs $37

Prime Rib Cheesesteak galbi onions, provolone, chips – I probably should have eaten this dish first, but I was afraid it would make me too full to eat anything else so I ended up eating it last. Even though this was the last thing I ate and basically sat on the side the rest of my meal, this was still delicious. I loved how the bread was crispy on the outside with a more airy interior so it didn’t feel like the bread took up most of the bite. There was a generous portion of juicy meat on the inside, and the provolone was the cheesy bit I needed. This sandwich was better than I expected which was a nice surprise and a great way to end the meal.

Prime Rib Cheesesteak $31

This was just the right amount of food for four people (we did take some of the potato chips that came with the Prime Rib Cheesesteak to-go). My favorite dish was the Mushroom Noodles and Grilled Bass, followed by the Prime Rib Cheesesteak, Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs, Sweet Onion Dip, and Wagyu Beef Kimbap. In terms of the dish that I ended up liking more than I expected, it was definitely the Prime Rib Cheesesteak.

One thing I liked about Super Peach over Majordomo was how there were more options. There was a good variety to choose from on the menu, and the dishes were not as pricey so you can order more dishes to eat. The food at Majordomo did feel more fancy and more difficult to cook though. I am curious enough to try some of the other kimbap, but would remind myself not to get too excited for it. Another interesting item on the menu I would want to try is the Crispy Colorado Lamb Ribs. Overall, this was a good meal at Super Peach and I was quite satisfied.
