It’s hump day. What a long day I have ahead of me, with nothing exciting on my calendar. Sigh. I got to work, put down my stuff, took out my laptop, and looked at the time. I have time to grab a cup of coffee!
I grabbed my friend and we went to get coffee. On our way back we went separate ways, and when I got back to my desk, I noticed something different…something extra. There was a rectangular box in red gift wrap on my desk!
I picked it up. There was no name on it. No “to”, no “from.” Is this for me? I looked around.
“Did you put this here?”
“No.”
“Did you put this here?”
“No.”
“Did anyone walk by?”
“No.”
Nobody claimed to be the gifter. I shook the package. What could be inside? A box of chocolate? Tea?
I decided that since it is on my desk (and not at an easily reachable location on my desk), it must be a gift for me. I grabbed a pair of scissors and carefully cut the tape. Who would get me a gift? When did they put this here? Are they watching me open this? Is this a prank???
I was able to get the side of the gift to unwrap and peeked inside. There was no label on the box saying what it was. Should I keep cutting the tape or should I just rip the gift wrap? I tried pulling the box out of the gift wrap. It wouldn’t budge. I couldn’t wait any longer. I ripped apart the rest of the gift wrap. I gasped. It’s a ping pong paddle!
This is awesome!!! I was so happy. I’ve been debating on whether I should get my own ping pong paddle, and now I have one! My very own paddle! The paddle even comes with a case. I was so excited I opened the box right away and held the paddle. It felt so nice! The rubber has a much better grip than the paddle I had been using, which means more spin! Wow, this mystery person really knew what was on my wish list!
What a great hump day – I am so excited to use my new paddle and play better!
