Located on the 21st floor with a view of Downtown Los Angeles, Takami Sushi & Robata is a good stop for some food and views. The restaurant is pretty laid back and the food here is decent, but you’ll find me here for the company more than the food! Make sure to check if there’s a deal on Groupon before going!
Appetizers
The Takami Edamame and Arare Calamari are both good options for appetizers!
Takami Edamame – soy beans sautéed in garlic, butter & soy sauce
Arare Calamari – tempura calamari filets covered in Japanese arare rice crackers, served with a curry aioli
Creamy Rock Shrimp Tempura – tempura shrimp tossed in spicy mayo & ponzu
Shishito Peppers – sautéed, lightly seasoned & topped with bonito flakes
Robata
I’ve only tried the chicken breast, but it was pretty good!
Sushi
The sushi here is not bad and there are quite a few options to choose from between the specialty and classic rolls! Here are a few that I’ve tried:
Takami Roll – spicy albacore & cucumber topped with peppered tuna & yellowtail with jalapeno ponzu
Yuzu Tiger Roll – spicy salmon & shrimp tempura topped with shrimp, yellowtail & yuzu dressing
Baked Crab Roll – king crab & snow crab baked in butter & rolled in soy paper
Takami Sushi Plate – tuna, yellowtail, salmon, albacore, white fish, shrimp, Chef’s daily selection with Spicy Tuna Roll
Dessert
Churro Waffle – homemade Belgian waffle “churro style” served with warm maple syrup & vanilla ice cream
Molten Chocolate Yuzu Cake – warm chocolate center, served with vanilla ice cream & raspberry sauce
Drinks
In terms of drinks, I’d definitely go for the Echigo Stout!
