Redbird

Another day, another new restaurant to try! Today’s restaurant is Redbird in Los Angeles. The entrance is located on a hill, and you have to walk up a few steps to get inside the restaurant. The restaurant has dim lighting, and can get pretty packed on a weekday! There is valet parking available, but there is also street parking and a parking structure nearby!

There is a short food menu list, but a whole book of wine and other drinks! I started my meal with complimentary cheese bread and also ordered some appetizers.

Cheese Bread

Pee Wee Potatoes – vegan creme fraiche, lemon, dill – the texture and flavor of this was delicious!
Beef Tartare – rose radish, kimchi aioli, egg jam, nori chip – make sure to eat the beef tartare with the nori chip!
Brussels Sprouts – brown butter, cosmic apples – the cosmic apples were surprisingly really good with the brussels sprouts. It was definitely hard to decide whether I liked the Beef Tartare or the Brussels Sprouts more.
Hiramasa Crudo – blood orange ponzu, red shiso, puffed rice

Next is the entrees. I tried three entrees, but the Pappardelle was easily my favorite. The pasta was the star of the entire meal, and the lamb and toppings made it extra tasty. The Broken Arrow Farms Wild Boar was another solid choice, with juicy and tender meat.

Pappardelle – lamb ragu, castelvetrano olives, oven dried tomato, parmigiano reggiano, mint – make sure to order this!
Broken Arrow Farms Wild Boar – cherries, hibiscus verjus, gnocchi, romana, chard, shimeji mushrooms – a great option if you’re looking for something more meaty!
Red Wattle Pork Chop – collard greens, polenta, mustard jus – the pork chop was a bit dry and not quite as unique as the other two entrees I had.

If you’re looking to visit Redbird, keep in mind that there may be a pretty long wait for the food to come out! The entrees took over an hour to come out, but it could be that it was an extra busy day since the restaurant was full. The prices are also not the cheapest (although the Papperdelle was great for the price compared to the other two entrees).
