Pizzeria Bianco (DTLA)

Pizzeria Bianco has been on my list of restaurants to try, and I finally got to check it out! This restaurant is located in Row DTLA, with a parking structure in the back that has free parking for 2 hours. The restaurant has a nice big window wall, bringing in a lot of natural light! The furniture looked perfectly simple, but I was fooled by the bench seats! It looked like it would be cushioned, but when I sat down, it was definitely not.

For our table of 5, we ordered a two small plates, a salad, and three pizzas to share.

Focaccia – rosemary, olive oil
Mortadella – seared pistachio mortadella, Blenheim apricots, arugula, dijon
Market Salad – Bonny melon, fennel, lemon juice, parsley

Everything tasted good. The Market Salad came first, and it was not what I was expecting. I was expecting some more greens. However, once I took a bite into the Bonny melon, I was like, wow. This melon is so sweet! With the lemon juice, this Market Salad was very refreshing and perfect for a hot day. The mortadella and focaccia came next. I’m usually not a huge fan of bread, but I really liked the focaccia! The mortadella was very interesting. The piece of meat is so thick! It made me think of a very thick slice of ham that’s super smooth and soft. I really liked both of the sauces that came with it and the arugula. Delicious!

Pizza

Sonny Boy – tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, soppressata, Gaeta olives
Biancoverde – fresh mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiano, ricotta, arugula
Guanciale – daily special, Gouda, broccolini, yellow nardello

Mmm…pizza! My favorite pizza was the Guanciale, which was their daily special! There was a perfect balance of meat and veggies, with none of the components too overpowering. The Sonny Boy and Biancoverde were both great choices as well. The Sonny Boy was packed with meat on top! If you like salami, this pizza is for you. It was a bit on the salty side, but still enjoyable! On the other hand, the Biancoverde was very simple, with arugula on top. I preferred the Biancoverde a bit more over the Sonny Boy, but what if they were both combined? That would be fun to try!

What pizza should I try next time?
