Lunch at a vegan restaurant? What?? I decided to check out this vegan restaurant for lunch one day after my friend mentioned it a few times to me. When we sat down, the waiter brought us water. The cups and table setting are so pretty!

I had looked up the menu before and thought about what I would want to order, but when I got there, we learned that there is a lunch special that also comes with a drink! We decided to each order a different one to share, plus a starter.

Starters

BBQ Pork Roll – soy pork, greens, pickled daikon, carrot, brown rice paper, almond-hoisin

The BBQ Pork Rolls were pretty good! It’s definitely different than BBQ Pork Rolls with real meat, but this was still good and I’d order it again.

Garlic Basil Noodles + Eggrolls

Garlic Basil Noodles – rice noodles, vegan sausage, baked garlic cloves, kale, pine nuts, Thai basil, sriracha
Eggrolls – vegan wrap, jicama-taro veggie filling, with greens and vegan fish sauce

Mmm…I liked everything in the garlic basil noodles! The noodles were very slippery which made it a bit hard to eat. I wish there was more of the vegan sausage though! The eggrolls reminded me of veggie egg rolls at other restaurants.

Sweet & Spicy Tempeh + Norrito

Sweet & Spicy Tempeh – root veggies, tempeh, palm-sweetened chili sauce, hemp seeds, crisp melinjo crackers
Norrito – cabbage, bean sprouts, carrots, jicama, nori, bell pepper, avo, cilantro, lime leaf sauce

They really weren’t kidding when they called it spicy! I learned that I’m not a fan of the texture and thickness of the tempeh. My favorite part of this dish is the broccoli! The chili sauce was very flavorful (and spicy) as well.

Chicken Sate + Spinach Panzanella

Chicken Sate – grilled soy chicken skewers, almond sweet sauce, fried onion, steamed rice, shallot, cucumber and Thai chili pickles
Spinach Panzanella – spinach, bell pepper, croutons, basil, pili nuts, red onion, cherry tomato, black garlic, vegan parm, classic Italian dressing

The chicken sate dish was my favorite! Every part of it was good. The chicken tasted very similar to real chicken, and the almond sweet sauce went really well with it! I also really liked the Thai chili pickles with the rice. The Spinach Panzanella had ingredients that I liked, making this dish my favorite.

I’d definitely get the BBQ Pork Rolls and Chicken Sate again, but I’d love to try some of the other dishes next time too!
