Let me begin by saying that I rarely watch movies. It is such a time commitment to be sitting in a movie theater for 2+ hours and not be able to walk around to get steps! I also don’t have a streaming subscription, so I wouldn’t really watch movies at home either. I typically do not watch the Oscars, but since my office was doing an Oscars Pick’em group (with prizes), I submitted my guesses!
Well, technically, I had some help (a lot, actually) from The Perfect Boredom. Here are the guesses I submitted:
Actress in a Supporting Role | Da’Vine Joy Randolph |
Short Film (Animated) | WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko |
Animated Feature Film | Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse I did consider The Boy and the Heron for a split second, but ended up submitting Spider-Man. |
Writing (Original Screenplay) | Anatomy of a Fall |
Writing (Adapted Screenplay) | American Fiction |
Makeup and Hairstyling | Maestro I could have gotten this one correct if I had listened to The Perfect Boredom! |
Production Design | Poor Things |
Costume Design | Poor Things |
International Feature Film | The Zone of Interest |
Actor in a Supporting Role | Robert Downey Jr. |
Visual Effects | Godzilla Minus One |
Film Editing | Oppenheimer |
Documentary Short Film | The Last Repair Shop |
Documentary Feature Film | 20 Days in Mariupol |
Cinematography | Oppenheimer |
Short Film (Live Action) | The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar |
Sound | Oppenheimer |
Music (Original Score) | Oppenheimer |
Music (Original Song) | “What Was I Made For?” |
Actor in a Leading Role | Cillian Murphy |
Directing | Christopher Nolan |
Actress in a Leading Role | Lily Gladstone |
Best Picture | Oppenheimer |
W-L: 19-4
Points: 190
Percent: 99.6%
It was very exciting watching my score update every time the winner was announced. I ended up with the highest score in my group and won a Disney 100 Train Popcorn Bucket and some snacks! The popcorn bucket came with a strap, has a light that turns on, a whistle you can blow into, and the wheels also move! I couldn’t stop showing everyone my new cool toy.
Maybe I’ll watch some more movies this year like The Perfect Boredom so I can be more knowledgeable in movies…
