Virtual birthday parties are nothing new now – we’ve been hearing about them and getting Zoom invites for over a year. The new factor is when it’s finally your birthday. Sure, you’ve attended a bunch of virtual birthday parties, but when it’s your birthday-during-the-pandemic, it’s really something different!
A Pre-Birthday Celebration
First things first, what’s for lunch? Blaze Pizza! It’s not every day that pizza would be seen in my house. The main reason for Blaze Pizza (instead of another pizza place) is because it’s not too far away and I can customize my own pizza! After choosing the sauce (red sauce is the way to go) and the meats, the other important toppings include banana peppers, green bell peppers, black olives, mushrooms, red onions, and, of course, pineapple! As a drink, I had the Sea Cream Jasmine Tea from 7 Leaves Cafe. Yummy!
With such a big lunch, dinner was simpler – a bit of sashimi is just enough! There’s usually a wait at Yama Seafood, but it is well worth the wait. After cooking my rice and getting some nori and ginger, I am ready for some salmon, tuna, and yellowtail!
I thought that was the extent of my birthday-during-the-pandemic, but wait…there’s more! A birthday dinner reminder popped up on my calendar – for the day of my actual birthday. For a second there, I literally thought I set my own reminder for my birthday, but after a few seconds, the invitation part came by. It was an invitation from my fan club, with a video call link and the description saying that dinner will be delivered! What could that be?
The Birthday Celebration
A Porto’s box arrived at my house in the afternoon, and inside was two dozen of their Bake at Home Seafood Potato Balls! This is a perfect tasty snack for Lent, and it’s so simple to make! Could this be for our 7pm dinner? I was so excited.
5pm came, then 6pm, then 6:30pm. Should I make the Seafood Potato Balls? I didn’t end up making a decision, because my “cake” arrived first: Banana Cream Pie from Urban Plates and Cream Puffs from Beard Papa’s! The Cream Puffs were light and not too sweet, just what I wanted.
As 7pm approached, I jumped on the video call. Nobody else was on. Hm…a few minutes passed, and finally, I wasn’t alone! My phone rang soon after – it was a call from the fan club designated delivery man. Providing great service and staying far away, two huge bags were left at the doorstep. What’s inside? Pisces Poke & Ramen! It was almost as if my fans read my mind – I was imagining and thinking about having Pisces for dinner the whole afternoon! (How did they know?!?!)
I split up the food with my family and immediately ran back into my room for the video call. As I happily ate my Truffle Salmon Poke Plate and a bit of the other items, I got to laugh and tell stories with my fans. The rest of the night was just smiles all the way. This was definitely a next level birthday party, and one of the best and most memorable – another perfect day in the books!
P.S. I have the best fans.
