5 Places to Visit After Quarantine

On this day one year ago, I was in Japan enjoying the fresh fish at the Toyosu Market for breakfast and ending the night with delicious ramen and gyoza at Itto-ya. With coronavirus, there hasn’t been a chance for me to travel, but that doesn’t mean I can’t think about where I want to go next – in fact, I’ve even started a spreadsheet to keep track of places I want to visit! Here are the top five international places I want to visit (that I’ve never visited before):

5. Indonesia

Besides a visit to the popular Bali and the famous ocean swing, a sunrise hike at Mount Bromo sounds like another great adventure. Complete the day with dishes such as chicken satay, nasi goreng (fried rice), and mie goreng (fried noodles), and wrap up the meal with some durian!

4. South Korea

If food in Koreatown is already so tasty, I can’t even imagine how much tastier it must be in South Korea. A walk through Seoul or a trip to Busan is bound to be exciting with the variety of activities that you can check out!

3. Italy

From the Milan Cathedral to Vatican City, a pilgrimage to Italy can take many weeks. There is so much culture embedded into this country – both religion and art – that makes the visit a very memorable and educational experience!

2. Singapore

Everybody tells me about how clean Singapore is, so I really must go see for myself! Aside from the beautiful sights like the Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay Sands, I am, of course, most excited for the food. Which dishes? Hainanese chicken rice, char kway teow, and laksa!

1. Malaysia

Not too far from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang are only two of the many places I want to stop by. I can’t wait to try their street food and check out all the murals along the streets that I’ve seen pop up in some of the Hong Kong dramas!
