10 Items Worth Carrying In Your Bag

Nobody likes carrying a heavy bag around with them all the time. Whether you’re going shopping, heading to work, or even traveling, it seems quite unnecessary to bring so much with you and even becomes an inconvenience at times. As much as I hate lugging a bag everywhere, I always seem to have a good reason to carry at least 10 items in my bag.

Let’s take a look at the 10 items I typically carry:

  1. Wallet – This item is probably the most important to take with you everywhere. It holds your ID, money, and insurance card in case of an emergency. How will you drive or pay for anything without your wallet?
  2. Phone – A phone is pretty self-explanatory. We need it to call or text others if anything changes last minute! Plus, what else are you going to use to check traffic and take photos of your food?
  3. Keys – Car key, house key, gate key – there’s a key to so many things. You can even use your keys as protection, but I guess removing a few old keys could possibly lighten up your bag a bit!
  4. Mask & Hand Sanitizer – A mask should already be on your face, but an extra one in your bag doesn’t hurt! A small bottle of hand sanitizer (1 to 2 oz) really shouldn’t add that much weight to your bag, so why not have one to help keep germs away?
  5. Water Bottle – A reusable water bottle is especially necessary when you’re going to work or will be out of the house for some time. You never know if you’ll have access to water!
  6. Sunglasses –  A pair of sunglasses is perfect for going on walks or driving while the sun is still shining bright. Not only does it protect your eyes, but it can also help you see better!
  7. Tissues – A dirty chair or a sneeze may call for a tissue. Or, even worse, when you’re in the restroom and you realize there’s no toilet paper! Sounds like a pretty important item to carry in my opinion.
  8. Pen – If you ever need to jot something down, a pen can come in handy. There’s no need to carry paper with you though – you can write it down on a (clean) tissue instead!
  9. Bandages – Although getting a paper cut may not be that common, it’s always good to have some bandages on you just in case. You never know if you’ll trip while walking or if your shoes will give you some blisters.
  10. Portable Charger – Ideally, your phone battery should last over a day or at least the hours you are out of the house, but if you’ll be taking lots of photos or keeping your bluetooth and location on the entire day, your battery will probably drain quicker than you’d like. That’s when a portable charger would save your day! It’s a bit on the heavier side, so maybe this could be the one item you keep or remove from your bag depending on where you’re going.

While these items aren’t that heavy by themselves, my bag still ends up being pretty heavy for some reason. Should I try narrowing down my list to only 5 items?
